The animation is programed to mimic gravity, it is a projectile motion animation with no air resistance. We want to go back to the Schrodinger equation here. They explain the strange (but conventional) quantum physics of wave/particles that behave sort of like waves, and sort of like particles, but not really like either. In the reality of quantum common sense, this fact — when we recognize what is obvious, the fact that almost all events, now and in the past, occur without being observed by humans — should be seen as evidence for the irrelevance of “consciousness” and as a logical reason to abandon claims that we play an important role in “creating reality.” It should be seen as a logical reason to be humble about the importance of humans, because the universe does not need us to “observe things and make them happen.” { Do scientists create reality? - silly postmodern claims! } In the delusion of quantum mysticism, this obvious reason for humility is rejected.

This is available via amazon.com for about $20.00. (SPS does have some of these available to loan) Physics by Halliday and Resnick. Even though the free electron displays some quantum properties (such as spin), as the unbound electron approaches the atom and slows down (perhaps by emitting photons), it undergoes a transition from classical to quantum behavior as its energy goes below the ionization energy. Because once I define it, I can start calling this a wave, as opposed to a disturbance propagating down the rope.
